The College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Council was formed to foster a relationship between students and the administration. The council meets two to three times a semester with the Dean, to discuss current issues, future initiatives, and improvement areas for the College of Arts and Sciences. 

Meet the Members


Erica Baldwin - Music Education

Erica Baldwin is a music education (trumpet emphasis) major from Bella Vista, Arkansas. Baldwin is currently employed as an event specialist and nanny. After graduation, Baldwin may pursue a graduate degree or begin her teaching career.

Rylee Dennis - Math Education

Rylee Dennis is a math education major from Trimble, Missouri. Dennis currently works as a tutor and teacher’s assistant in the Department of Mathematics. After graduation, Dennis plans to pursue a graduate degree.

Bridgette Dewey - Family and Consumer Sciences

Bridgette Dewey is a family and consumer sciences major from Baxter Springs, Kansas. Dewey currently works in the Registrar’s Office. After graduation, Dewey plans to obtain a graduate degree in child life and become a child life specialist.

Kyla Jantz - Biology

Kyla Jantz is a biology major from Newton, Kansas. Jantz is in the pre-pharmacy program and Honors College Association. After graduation, Jantz plans to attend the University of Colorado Denver School of Pharmacy.

Erick McCloskey - Biology and Chemistry

Erick McCloskey is a biology and chemistry major and has resided in Pittsburg for more than nine years. McCloskey is employed in the PSU Biology department and Post Office. After graduation, McCloskey plans to obtain a PhD and conduct research.

Sydney Nesvold - English Education

Sydney Nesvold is an English education major from Seneca, Missouri. Nesvold is the president of Gamma Alpha Lambda. After graduation, Nesvold plans to teach ninth grade English Language Arts at Neosho High School.

Beau Schmidt - Criminal Justice

Beau Schmidt is a criminal justice major from Wellsville, Kansas. Schmidt is active in his fraternity and enjoys playing golf in his free time. After graduation, Schmidt plans to work in law enforcement.

Kate Stahl - Nursing

Kate Stahl is a nursing major from Pittsburg. Stahl is currently employed at a local assisted living facility. After graduation, Stahl plans to be an emergency department nurse and obtain an APRN degree.

Emerson Tice - Strategic Communication

Emerson Tice is a strategic communication major and member of the PSU Track and Field team from Viola, Kansas. After graduation, Tice plans to return to PSU to pursue a graduate degree and grow her photography business.
